CLPR-01 Featured on Yanko Design and Behance

Design Leeway’s portable measuring-tool concept, designed by Arun Kumar and Sai Reddy, receives coverage on Yanko Design and a Behance Industrial Design feature.

A measuring tool made to travel

What if a caliper were something you carried with you, rather than left in a toolbox? CLPR-01 is Design Leeway’s exploration of that question. Designed by Arun Kumar and Sai Reddy, the concept brings everyday portability to a tool usually associated with a workbench.

A ruler is easy to carry, but measuring the width of a small object can call for jaws that meet its opposite sides. CLPR-01 explores the space between a simple ruler and a vernier caliper: a compact object that slides open into a measuring tool, then closes into a rounded form with its jaws tucked away.

Featured on Yanko Design

On October 10, 2026, Yanko Design published its coverage of CLPR-01. The article looks at the relationship between the tool’s pocketable form and its measuring function, including how its enclosed jaws make it easier to carry away from a workshop.

For our studio, the recognition is an opportunity to share a design question with a wider audience: how can familiar tools become more approachable through their form, movement, and everyday use?

Selected for Behance Industrial Design

CLPR-01 has also been featured in Behance’s Industrial Design gallery. The project presentation, published on September 4, 2026, brings together the concept’s form, transformation, and intended use.

From workshop instrument to everyday object

The project considers carrying and storing a tool as part of the design problem. Its rounded shell, retracting jaws, and visible measuring scale explore how a more capable measuring object could fit into everyday routines for designers, students, and makers.

CLPR-01 remains a design concept with physical prototypes. Its presentation does not establish independently tested accuracy, a retail price, or a release date. The focus is the design exploration: making the transition from carrying to measuring simple and intuitive.
